Time to End the Whisky Rip-off!

I really can know longer believe that taxation of alcohol for health control / benefit is viable.

People who abuse alcohol usually abuse at the cheapest level. So a minimum price should be set to remove the ultra cheap products from the reach of the abusers.

However the price of medium to premium products have now escalated so much that the enjoyment of alcohol,  a legal product, is becoming cost prohibitive to many included myself in Ireland.

For example, a standard bottle of Jameson whisky is approximately €30 per litre in Ireland. In Cyprus it is at least ten euros cheaper, in Tenerife, its half the price!

Of course,  abusers of alcohol require support to control their addictions, I just want the chance to purchase locally produced whisky at a reasonable price to enjoy in moderation at a similar rate to my fellow Europeans, surely this would help Irish produce and Irish jobs.

Do you agree alcohol prices are too high? Should alcohol taxes be raised? Let me know below in the comment section
